the name of this blog was inspired by a great song by one of jared and my favorite bands Carbon Leaf. though the whole song doesn't translate to our life, we still love the idea of living a life less ordinary and less sedentary. in fact, to wake up and look back on a mediocre life is one of my greatest fears.

enjoy the random comments of my head as i bumble through life.

"Life Less Ordinary"

Live a life less ordinary
Live a life extraordinary with me
Live a life less sedentary
Live a life evolutionary with me
Well I hate to be a bother,
But it's you and there's no other, I do believe
You can call me naive but...
I know me very well (at least as far as I can tell)
And I know what I need

...and so it begins

I'm trying my hand at a blog. many of our friends have them and i enjoy reading them. i realize it's better to not put all my thoughts out there on facebook or myspace, though i'm not sure who would really be interested in reading my thoughts.

however, i've always wanted to keep a journal, partly for the sake of giving my offspring something to know me by, partly to remind myself of my own life in the future (my memory is awful!) and partly...well, who doesn't hope that someone else is interested in their thoughts?

so here goes.

a quick snapshot of my life right now... alena is 22 months old and absolutely a joy, we're completely smitten (but not beyond keeping her from being a brat, so don't use that "spoiled" word on us!) i'm working 2 days/week teaching babies at a mother's day out and watching a baby at my house 2 other days/week. jared works for NASBA downtown nashville, a company that does all the processing for taking the CPA exam (and other professional licensure tests). he absolutely loves his job, and it's consistantly voted in the top 5 best companies to work for here. i'm doing a few weddings here and there, though i'm not actively seeking business. i've been blessed to get a few calls just out of the blue via word of mouth. this is my first love and i can't wait to jump back into it FT when alena starts school.

i'm tempted to put on here several things in the recent past, but i think i'll hold off for now..attempt to start now and move forward.

  1. I am glad you are doing this. It is always interesting to go back and read something that you wrote. It will be even more interesting for Alena to come here and read. She is a bundle of sweetness! Just like mommy and daddy. Glad we had an opportunity to see you three!!

    Love you! Takeya
